JORDY KERWICK

Jordy Kerwick is an unusual and generous character who immerses us in a folkloric universe filled with stories and fairy tales.
Influenced by Henri Matisse and contemporary artists Fabrizio Biviano and Robert Nava, Jordy Kerwick's paintings are joyful, colorful and punk. They are dense and ponderous, depicting haunting portraits, still lifes of cobras, tigers and unicorns with Cubist overtones, or more abstract and gestural works in the vein of Franz Kline and Cy Twombly.
Jordy Kerwick's disparate practice encompasses a range of materials including enamel, acrylic, oil, house paint, airbrush, graphite and charcoal.
The artist is inspired by historical still lifes, the drawings or games of his two children, literature and music.
Jordy Kerwick was born in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia. He lives and works in Albi, in the southwest of France.
Self-taught, he had several lives before devoting himself to painting in 2016. Pushed by his wife in this path, he quickly found himself at the center of an international success. With numerous exhibitions in Melbourne, London, New York, Tokyo or Paris, his work is also part of major public and private collections, such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Blanca and Borja Thyssen-Bornemisza collection, or the Bunker Art Foundation in Miami.
In addition to the "Inti-Punku" exhibition, his work will be shown at the Armory Show and at Regent's Park as part of Frieze Sculpture.
He is represented by Vito Schnabel Gallery.
