TAKERU AMANO

Takeru Amano's work is influenced by Japan's ancient history and the late 20th century culture in which he grew up. Thanks to his experience in New York, his style gradually takes on a cosmopolitan dimension. He uses classical, philosophical and mythological subjects, mixing them with a neo-pop aesthetic and adding a touch of humor. Playing between classicism and modernity, Takeru Amano combines the accuracy and simplicity of the line with an explosive color palette and transcribes a unique and childlike universe. Certain representations are recurrent in his work. Takeru Amano is a Japanese painter and sculptor born in 1977 in Tokyo. He lives and works in Tokyo. He was immersed in the artistic world from an early age, his father is Yoshitaka Amano, an internationally renowned illustrator. However, the artist left to find his own way and moved to New York from 1997 to 2000 to study engraving. This trip will have a lasting influence on his style. His work has been shown in several solo and group exhibitions, notably in Paris, Tokyo, Beijing and Hong Kong. Currently, his work is presented at the Parco Museum in Tokyo.
