URSULA PALLA

Swiss artist, born in 1961 in Chur, lives and works in Zurich.

Ursula Palla is a sculptor and video artist and has been working with plants for the past twenty years. Since her graduation from the F&F School of Art and Design in Zurich (1988 - 1991), she has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Europe. Her works can be found in public collections including the Gemeente Museum in The Hague, the ZKM (Zentrum für Kunst und Medien) in Karlsruhe, the Belvedere in Vienna or the Kunsthaus in Zurich. In 2017, she was a resident for a year at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris. Palla teaches video at several art schools in Switzerland. But for the past few years, her material of choice has been bronze, which she uses to petrify the weeds she finds in places of destruction, construction sites or abandonment. In 2022, Palla created a monumental work for the police and justice headquarters of the canton of Zurich, three thistles of 6, 8 and 10 meters high (Listen to the Flowers). Her latest commission is a glass cloud for the Predigerkirche in Basel in 2022.
Ursula Palla is represented by the Linder Gallery in Basel.
